26 December 2004 Tsunami

On the 26 of December 2004 the Maldives were destroyed by a tsunami caused by the Indian Ocean earthquake.
Nine of the Islands were reported to have escaped any type of flooding.
Fifty-seven Islands were reported with serious damage.
Fourteen Islands were totally evacuated.
Six Islands were destroyed.
Twenty-one Islands were forced to close because of the damage.
The damage total was around US$400million
One hundred and eight people including six foreigners were reported to have died during the tsunami.
The waves were coming at over 14 feet high (4.3m)
